Platinum Club

Thoughtfully appointed to embody the spirit of the train’s heritage, Platinum Club is the newest addition to Australia’s great rail journeys.

The decor features quartzite tabletops, timber flooring, brass fittings and leather banquette seating in tones of ash, moss and sepia, setting the scene for relaxed daytime conversation or elegant dinner with friends.

With a deluxe bar, lounge and fully flexible dining area, the Platinum Club marks the first major refurbishment for Great Southern Rail trains since 2008.

The carriage offers a daytime lounge setting with adaptable dining options or either small dinners or larger group celebrations, seating 30 guests for dining and an additional 20 in the lounge.

The Platinum Club Lounge is hosted by a Platinum Host, serving drinks, cocktails and barista coffee. Request an afternoon refreshment from the all-inclusive beverage list, or simply choose from the self-serve bar.

Our highly-experienced onboard culinary teams work closely with local suppliers, farmers and providores sourcing the finest ingredients to create innovative, regionally-inspired menus accompanied by all-inclusive fine wines and beverages offered on every route.

The Making of the Platinum Club

Working over two months, the first of four carriages to be refitted was transformed into the new Platinum Club.

The Platinum Club carriages offer a private dining and lounge space for Platinum Service guests travelling across Australia on The Ghan and Indian Pacific trains.
